Johnson Central has maintained its number one ranking in the latest Mountain Top Sports’ Top Seven poll following last weekend’s opening games.
The Golden Eagles went into Lexington and beat Class 6A Lafayette, 49-12.
JC is followed this week by Pikeville and Belfry, which share the number two position. The Panthers pulled away late to beat Bardstown while the Pirates dominated Southwestern on the road without its starting quarterback.
Paintsville moved ahead of idle Mingo Central into the fourth position after the Tigers knocked off Lawrence County big on the road. The fifth-ranked Miners open Saturday night at Pikeville.
Rounding out this week’s poll are Shelby Valley at number six, followed by Martin County, which took the seventh spot away from Letcher Central which fell to the Wildcats last week.
Also receiving votes this week were Pike County Central and Magoffin County.
