Pikeville running back Cody Raines ran for three second-half touchdowns to lead the Panthers to a come-from-behind 41-25 win over Bardstown at Hillard Howard Field in the season opener played Saturday night.
Raines finished with 170 yards on 26 carries. His 25-yard TD run with 6 minutes, 30 seconds left in the third period put Pikeville back in front to stay.
He added touchdown runs of one and four yards in the fourth quarter.
Quarterback Isaac McNamee tossed a pair of touchdown passes, his first to Jackson Hensley for a 33-yard score and then a 35-yard pass to Clay Tinsley.
Jon Collum added TD runs of one and 11 yards.
Pikeville will now turn its attention to next Saturday night’s clash against Mingo Central (0-0) in the 35th annual Pike County Bowl. Kickoff is tentatively scheduled for 8:35 p.m.
