University of Pikeville head football coach Al Holland Jr. makes no bones about it when talking about the upcoming college season.
“This is probably the toughest schedule we have faced in my 10 years here, “Holland said during the team’s media day early this week. “It starts with our season opener at Murray State.”
The Bears return a number of veterans offensively, including senior quarterback Bowen Smith and senior running back Xondre “X” Willis.
Defensively, red-shirt senior Taeron Brown is back to lead the defensive secondary. He has received NFL interest from the Detroit Lions.
Following the opener at Murray, UPIKE will play other road games at Reinhardt University (Sept. 7), Georgetown College (Oct. 12), Campbellsville (Oct. 19) and Cumberland, Tenn. (Nov. 2),
Home games at the W.C. Hambley Complex includes Bluefield (Va.) College (Sept. 14), Kentucky Christian University (Sept. 21), Cumberlands (Oct. 5), Lindsey Wilson (Oct. 26) and Bethel University (Nov. 9).
