LANGLEY – Shelby Valley scored the tying run in the sixth inning and then the eventual game-winning run in the top of the seventh as the Bat Kats knocked off Lawrence County, 7-6, in the opening round of the 15th Region Tournament played at Floyd Central Memorial Day.
With the win, the Bat Kats, now 14-13, will move into tonight’s semifinal matchup with Pike County Central at 6 p.m.
Lily Napier went the distance to earn the win while Allie Triplett was tagged with the loss as Lawrence County’s season ended at 26-10.
Tori Hampton drove in four of Valley’s seven runs and Napier added a pair of RBIs. Angel Newsome and Taylor Newsome finished with a pair of hits each.
Kensley Feltner had three hits in the loss and Ashley Hayes knocked in a pair of runs.
