Two of the region’s most highly respected high school long distance and track and field stars have garnered Mountain Top Sports’ Athlete of the Week honors.
Pikeville High School’s Harrison Booher and Prestonsburg’s Kaitlyn Keathley were the runaway choices this week after shining in the recent regional track meets held at Bath County High School over the weekend.
Booher won the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter runs while Keathley moves on to the state level as well after finishing third in the 400-meter run and her team was second in the 4 x 800-meter relay.
Both have had outstanding careers over their high school years. They will be on the state’s biggest stage in less than two weeks at the University of Kentucky, host of the 2019 state meet.
