ERMINE – Letcher Central punched its ticket to the 53rd District championship game with an 11-1 victory over Cordia in a game played at Cougar Field May 18.
Alyssa Franklin had two hits and drove in three runs as the Lady Cougars improved to 18-14. Winning pitcher Abby Meade knocked in a pair of runs and MacKenzie Nantz batted in two runs.
Meade and Makennah Johnson combined to toss a no-hitter.
Gracie McDougal and Kaytlin Morgan added two hits each in the win.
The Lady Cougars will face Knott County Central at 6:30 p.m. tonight in the finals. Both teams will advance on to the 14th Region tournament next week.
