ROBINSON CREEK – Shelby Valley and Pikeville will square off at 7 p.m. tonight at Dale Trivette Field to determine in the 59th District baseball championship.
The Wildcats (15-15) and Panthers (16-16) advanced with opening-round wins this past Saturday by identical 15-0 scores. Valley topped East Ridge and Pikeville downed Jenkins.
In the opener, catcher Logan Billiter had three hits, including a pair of doubles and drove in five runs to lead the Wildcats. First baseman Lincoln Billiter doubled, walked twice and batted in three runs while shortstop Jackson Lockhart-Wierwille singled twice, scored a pair of runs and knocked in two.
Winning pitcher Hunter Mullins, who tossed a no-hitter against the Warriors, singled, was hit by a pitch twice and scored four runs.
In the second game, Pikeville designated hitter Nate Collins had three doubles, scored a pair of runs and drove in six while outfielder Hunter Jones singled twice and drove in two runs while scoring twice.
Second baseman Brody Birchfield singled, walked and delivered a sacrifice fly. He scored twice and drove in two runs. Outfielder Zach Rowe had a pair of singles and scored two runs.
Winning pitcher Brady Clark tossed a no-hitter.
