HS BASEBALL ROUNDUP: Seventh-inning rally lifts Hawks

LANGLEY – Pike County Central rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh inning to beat Floyd Central, 10-8, in a game played May 14.

The Hawks, now 13-16, overcame a seven-run deficit. The Jaguars fell to 12-16.

D’Sean Prinkleton had three hits, including a pair of doubles, and drove in three runs while scoring twice. Evan Coleman added three hits, scored once and batted in three runs while Jarrod Stanley had two hits  and knocked in three runs.

Jonathan Potter finished with two hits and scored three times to help support winning pitcher Ben Huffman.

Brayden Hamilton singled and drove in a pair of runs while scoring once for the Jaguars. Matt Combs had three hits and scored two runs while Logan Conley added three hits, including a double, and added an RBI.

Chase Conley  and Jonah Parson each singled, scored and knocked in one run apiece.

Caleb Hager was the losing pitcher in relief.

ALLEN – Shelby Valley overcame an early two-run deficit to edge Betsy Layne, 3-2, in a game played at Stumbo Park May 14.

Winning pitcher Jackson Lockhart-Wierwille scattered five hits and struck out nine as the Wildcats improved to 14-14. He also had two hits and drove in one run. Hunter Mullins singled in one run and Lincoln Billiter added an RBI.

Chase Hamilton and Andrew Kidd each singled and drove in one run apiece as the Bobcats dropped to 9-16. Jordan Frazier singled and scored.
