HS SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Belfry falls; Pikeville sweeps Central

CANNONSBURG – Belfry saw a four-run lead slip away as Boyd County came back to score a 12-4 win in a game played May 11.

Losing pitcher Kailee Rash  had two hits, including a double, and drove in three runs as the Lady Pirates dropped to 23-4. Emily Deaton added two hits and scored a pair of runs while Paula Dotson singled in one run.

Alaina Castle had three hits, scored three runs and knocked in three as the Lady Eagles moved to 15-15. Chloe Vanhoose added three hits, including a double, scored three times and drove in a pair of runs.

Lindsay Stambaugh doubled, singled, scored twice and added three RBIs while winning pitcher Alyssa Hedrick belted a home run and knocked in two runs.

PIKEVILLE – Pikeville completed a doubleheader sweep of Pike County Central with a 5-2 victory in the nightcap played at Myers Field May 10.

Randi Delong belted a home run, doubled, scored twice and knocked in a pair of runs as the Lady Panthers moved to 22-11. Ginna Jones doubled and drove in two runs while Kelcie Adams tripled and scored.

Hannah Akers was the winning pitcher.

Abby Huffman doubled  and scored and Skylar Stumbo singled and scored as the Lady Hawks fell to 13-17. Kayleigh Thomas took the loss.

In the opener, Delong doubled in a pair of runs and winning pitcher Emily Ford double in another. Kendall Hall doubled and scored two runs while Olivia Whitfield singled, scored sand added an RBI.

Maddie Vaughn took the loss.
