HS SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: LCC rallies past Breathitt

JACKSON –  Letcher Central erased a seven-run deficit and the Lady Cougars went on to beat Breathitt County, 14-8, in a game played May 8.

Winning pitcher Makennah Johnson had three hits, including a pair of doubles and drove in three runs as the Lady Cougars moved to 11-13. Gracie McDougal added a pair of singles and drove in three runs while Tori Holcomb collected two hits, walked, scored and batted in two runs.

Abby Meade doubled, singled, scored three times and knocked in one run while Abigail McDougal finished with three singles and scored three runs while driving in one.

BUCKLEYS CREEK – Pike County Central held off a late Sheldon Clark rally to earn a 7-5 victory in a game played at the Hawks Nest May 8.

Chloe Neece had two singles, scored and batted in one run as the Lady Hawks moved to 13-15. Kayleigh Thomas singled in one run while Sydney Lowe singled, walked and scored twice.

Winning pitcher Maddie Vaughn also doubled.

Losing pitcher Gracie Presley had three hits, scored and batted in three runs as the Lady Cardinals dropped to 12-15. Brittany Thompson, Terri Howard, Skyla Messer and Paige Maynard all singled and scored.

LICK CREEK – Pikeville scored seven times in the top of the second inning and went on to beat East Ridge, 12-1, in a game played on the Reservation May 8.

Just one day after getting no-hit by Johnson Central’s Chloe Vanhoose, the Lady Panthers managed nine as they improved to 20-11.

Emily Adkins singled, scored twice and batted in two runs while Olivia Whitfield singled and added a pair of RBIs. Kendall Hall had two singles, scored and added an RBI.

Hannah Akers was the winning pitcher.

Kyra Looney singled, walked and knocked in one run as the Lady Warriors fell to 12-16. Caitlyn Coleman took the loss.

SETH – Sherman ace pitcher Autumn Thompson tossed a no-hitter to help the Tide eliminate Tug Valley, 2-1, in the Class A, Region 4, Section 2 championship game played May 8.

The Lady Panthers season ends at 23-13.

Autumn Hall was outstanding as well for Tug Valley, allowing just two hits.
