Johnson Central’s dominance in the 15th Region on the baseball diamond is impressive to say the least.
Two Golden Eagles found themselves this week in the hunt for EKB Sports’ Player of the Week honor.
Hunter McCloud finished this past week with 10 hits, including a pair of home runs and three doubles. He scored eight run and drove in 10 to edge out Ryley Preece for this week’s award.
Preece’s numbers were rock solid as well with nine hits, including a home run, triple and three doubles. He scored nine runs and knocked in seven as the Golden Eagles improved to 20-1.
Belfry standout and soon-to-be Ohio Valley University product Kailee Rash had another big week for the Lady Pirates. She had eight hits, including four doubles, and drove in nine runs as the Lady Pirates improved to a region-best 17-2. She was 4-1 on the mound.
Other top nominees included:
Paintsville’s Seth Williams who blasted three home runs, singled twice, scored five runs and knocked in seven.
Belfry’s Emily Deaton had 11 hits and scored four runs.
Pike Central’s Bailey Birchfield finished with seven hits, scored five runs and drove in six.
