GOODY – Belfry’s Wyatt Webb lined a single into centerfield to score the game-winning run and cap a six-run, seventh inning as the Pirates rallied for an 8-7 win in the Jim Vaughn Smith Invitational Tournament played at Massey Energy Field April 18.
Mingo Central, now 7-13, led 6-0 early and carried a 7-2 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning.
Austin Fields had two hits, including a double, scored a pair of runs and drove home another while Kaleb Taylor and Logan Windle both added two hits, scored and batted in one run.
Andrew Allen had two hits, scored and knocked in one run for the Miners, now 7-13. Seth Jude doubled, scored twice and added an RBI.
Avery Browning was the winning pitcher. Justin May took the loss in relief.

Jordan Blankenship pounded out three hits for the Hornets, now 8-11, including a double. He scored one run and drove in a pair of runs. Caleb Dotson singled and walked twice.
