HS SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: East Ridge tops SC; Tug sweeps Mingo

LICK CREEK – East Ridge scored three times in the fourth and sixth innings to get past Sheldon Clark, 8-4, in a game played on the Reservation April 17.

Bethany Tackett had three hits, including a pair of doubles, as the Lady Warriors moved to 10-10. Kyra Looney added two hits, one a double, and scored while Kelsi Slone doubled home one run.

Emmaline Potter was the winning pitcher while Gracie Presley suffered the loss as the Lady Cardinals dropped to 8-10.

WILLIAMSON – Tug Valley’s Courtney Wellman and Kaitlyn Copley had a big game as the Lady Panthers cruised past Mingo Central, 14-0, to sweep a doubleheader played April 17.

Wellman had two hits and drove in four runs while Copley collected three hits and knocked home three as Tug Valley improved to 17-8.

Winning pitcher Caylee Akers added one hit and batted in one run.

Kayleigh Baisden suffered the loss as the Lady Miners fell to 0-23.

In the opener, Wellman had two hits and knocked home two runs in the 10-0 victory. Alyssa Newsome and Hannah Hopkins each drove in two runs.

Autumn Hall was the winning pitcher. Kaylee Fabin was tagged with the loss.

Skylar Stumbo had three hits, including a triple, and scored four times as the Lady Hawks moved to 9-10. Winning pitcher Kayleigh Thomas doubled twice and drove in two runs while scoring three.

Bailey Birchfield added three hits and scored twice while Maddie Vaughn doubled, scored and batted in three.
