PIKEVILLE – East Ridge, Paintsville, Pikeville and Shelby Valley all scored victories in the 15th Region All “A” Classic played at various sites on April 2.
At Stanville, East Ridge’s Kelsi Slone blasted a pair of home runs, doubled and drove in seven runs as the Lady Warriors defeated Betsy Layne, 14-2. She also scored three runs.
Bethany Tackett added two hits and drove in three runs while Lexy Little singled in a pair of runs. Courtney Standifur collected three hits and score.
Kyra Looney reached base four times and scored all four times. Caitlyn Coleman was the winning pitcher as East Ridge moved to 7-4.
Nicole Castle suffered the loss as the Lady Cats fell to 0-6.
At Paintsville, winning pitcher Anna Keeton was a force on the mound and at the plate as the Lady Tigers cruised past Prestonsburg, 10-0.
Keeton tossed a no-hitter and had two hits of her own and drove in four runs as Paintsville moved to 6-5. Jordyn Mulcahy finished with three hits and knocked in two runs while Elizabeth Williams batted in two.
Katelyn Bingham took the loss as the Lady Blackcats dropped to 3-6.
At Jenkins, Pikeville pitchers Emily Adkins and Hannah Akers as the Lady Panthers broke open a close game late to beat the Lady Cavaliers, 18-0.
Kendall Hall had four hits, including a triple and two doubles, scored four runs and drove in one as Pikeville improved to 7-4. Ginna Jones added three hits, one a double, batted in two runs and scored twice.
Randi Delong had two hits, including a triple, knocked in five runs and scored two. Olivia Whitfield doubled, singled twice, scored two runs and add an RBI.
Seventh-grader Riley Fleming was the losing pitcher. She allowed only two runs through four innings. The Lady Cavaliers dropped to 1-7.
At Inez, Tori Hampton and Emalie Tackett each belted a home run as the Bat Cats blanked the Lady Cardinals behind winning pitcher Lily Napier’s one-hitter, 7-0.
Hampton also singled while Tackett added a single and scored twice. Napier doubled in one run as Valley moved to 3-3. Taylor Newsome doubled, singled and scored.
