PIKEVILLE – Shelby Valley, Pikeville, Paintsville and Sheldon Clark all scored victories in the 15th Region All “A” Classic played at various sites around the region on April 2.
At Robinson Creek, Logan Billiter had a pair of doubles, drove in two runs and scored twice to help lead the Wildcats to an 11-2 win over Betsy Layne. Winning pitcher Jackson Wierwille doubled, singled, scored twice and batted in two runs as well as Valley moved to 4-4.
Samuel Brown and Gabriel Brown scored two runs each and Luke Roberts, singled, walked and knocked in one run.
Zach Bentley had both hits for the Bobcats, now 4-5. Jordan Frazier scored the lone run. Cameron Kimbler took the loss.
At Pikeville, the Panthers scored twice in the bottom of the fifth inning to take the lead away from Prestonsburg and went on to score an 11-3 win.
Nate Collins had three hits and drove in three runs while Drake Potter added two hits and knocked home three runs.
Tanner Sampson batted in two runs to help support winning pitcher Brady Clark.
Brayden Slone had a pair of hits for the Blackcats, who fell to 1-4.
At Paintsville, Jake Hyden and Seth Willliams each blasted a home run to help the Tigers turn back Phelps, 7-2. Williams scored twice and knocked in two runs while Hyden scored two runs and added a single.
Zach Thompson tripled in two runs and score to help Ashton Adams earn the win. Gunner Collins singled home one run and scored.
Paintsville moved to 7-3.
Garrett Clevinger and Riley Dotson had two hits each for the Hornets, who fell to 3-6. Brandon Turnmire was the losing pitcher.
At Inez, Sheldon Clark pitchers Jonathan Fitch and Mason Gordon combined to toss a no-hitter as the Cardinals raced past East Ridge, 13-0.
Parker Jarrell and Fitch each drove in three runs while Will Lafferty knocked in a pair as the Cardinals improved to 3-4.
Garrett Jones was tagged with the loss as the Warriors dropped to 1-6.
