HS BASEBALL: Panthers drop 1-0 finale at Cocoa Beach

COCOA Beach, Fla. – Pikeville hurlers Tait Lakin and Coleton Tackett pitched well enough to win but the Panthers fell to Westerville South (Ohio), 1-0, in the final game of the Cocoa Expo played March 28.

Lakin took the loss as the Panthers fell to 1-5.

Christian Billiter, Nate Collins and Lakin each had hits for Pikeville.

Tanner Hamilton had a pair of hits and drove home two runs as Pikeville dropped to 1-4. Brody Birchfield had two hits in the loss.

Tate Walters suffered the loss.

COCOA BEACH, Fla. – Pikeville erupted for 11 runs in the first inning and the Panthers went on to beat Cloverleaf (Ohio), 20-10, in the opening game of the Cocoa Expo played March 25.

Winning pitcher Seth Pugh and Nate Brown drove home three runs each as Pikeville won for the first time in four games. Connor Wright batted in two runs.

Tate Walters led the offensive surge with four hits while Brody Birchfield collected three.
