HS BASEBALL: Johnson Central sweeps weekend foes

GREENUP – Johnson Central pushed across three runs in the top of the seventh inning to beat Greenup County, 4-1, to cap off a pair of wins March 23.

Earlier, the Golden Eagles hammered George Washington, 12-2, in six innings.

Ryley Preece had two hits, including a double, scored once and knocked home a pair of runs in the win over Greenup. Weston May added a base hit and batted in one run while Cody Rice had an RBI.

Connor Lemaster was the winning pitcher.

Preece had four hits in the win over GW, including a double. He scored four runs and added an RBI. Ryan Sartin had three hits, including a double, scored and batted in three. Blake Delong singled, scored and drove in two runs while Hunter McCloud added two hits, scored and collected a pair of RBI.

Gabe Ferrell was the winning pitcher.

Cason Kirk and Connor McGrew each knocked home a pair of runs each as the Wildcats moved to 2-1. Dawson Deckett added two hits.

Ashton Deskins suffered the loss.

In the opener, McGrew, the winning pitcher, pounded out four hits and drove in four runs while Braydon McClung collected two hits.
