HS BASEBALL: Shelby Valley rallies past Belfry

ROBINSON CREEK – Shelby Valley, Grant Joyce delivered a two-run single into leftfield  in the bottom of the seventh inning to rally the Wildcats past Belfry, 6-5, in a game played at Dale Trivette Field March 19.

Mikey Mullins and Joyce, the winning pitcher, each had one hit and drove home a pair of runs each as the Wildcats evened their record at 1-1. Samuel Brown added one hit and knocked in one run.

Logan Windle had two hits, walked, scored one time and batted in one run while losing pitcher Kaleb Taylor singled and drove in three runs. Austin Rahe added an RBI.

PIKEVILLE – Johnson Central snapped a 1-1 tie with a four-run, sixth inning and the Golden Eagles went on to beat Pikeville, 6-3, in a game played at Gene Davis Field March 19.

Blake Delong doubled, scored two runs and drove in one while Ryan Sartin tripled, scored and  knocked in one run. Hunter McCloud  added a key hit.

Pikeville’s Tate Walters drove in a pair of runs as the Panthers dropped to 0-2.

The Cougars, now 2-0, took a 1-0 lead into the home sixth inning before pushing across three runs.

Nick Mason had two hits while Matt Craft and Greg Kincer added key hits. C.J. Akers, Craft and Gibson all collected an RBI.

Jonathan Potter collected two hits for the Hawks in their season opener. Tanner Wood had an RBI.

Daylon Stafford belted a home run, singled twice, scored two runs and knocked in five in the season opener for the Cardinals. Dawson Mills and winning pitcher Parker Jarrell each tripled  and singled. Mills scored three runs and drove in one while Jarrell added two runs and batted in two.

Brett Coleman, had three hits, including a double, scored twice and batted in a pair of runs in the season opener for the Pirates. Adam Rahe double and drove in one run while Sean Cochran and Austin Fields each singled and knocked in one run each.

Wyatt Webb was the winning pitcher in relief. Dakota Vance took the loss as the Panthers dropped to 0-4.
