PIKEVILLE – Pikeville’s dream of reaching the girls’ Sweet 16 state tournament is alive following the Lady Panthers impressive 61-46 win over Floyd Central at the Eastern Kentucky Exposition Center Monday night.
Pikeville, now 26-7, will face Johnson Central Tuesday night in the title game set for 7 p.m.
Floyd Central, which saw its season end at 28-3, suffered its first loss all season to a regional team.
The Lady Panthers ran out to a 13-3 first quarter lead and never trailed in the game, leading by as many as 18 with just under five minutes to play.
Kirsten Cole-Williamson tossed in 18 points to lead the offensive attack. Alivia Gearheart net 14 and Trinity Rowe came off the bench to score 10.
Abby Maggard led the Lady Jaguars with 12 and Lauren Preston scored 10. Katie Jo Moore tallied nine.
