JACKSON – Letcher Central continued its late-season success as the Lady Cougars knocked off Owsley County, 55-40, in the opening round of the girls’ 14th Region Tournament played at Breathitt County High School Feb. 28.
The Lady Cougars, now 19-9, will face host Breathitt County at 2 p.m. Saturday in the semifinals.
Brooklynn Collins poured in a game-high 19 points for Central. Emma Maggard finished with 12 and Brooke Bastes tossed in 11. Kaylee Banks added nine.
