WV SECTIONALS: Tug Valley, Mingo girls post wins

NAUGATUCK – Tug Valley ran out to an early lead and the Lady Panthers rolled to a 63-35 victory over Buffalo in the Class A, Region IV, Section II Tournament played Feb. 18.

Makayla May finished with a double-double, scoring 18 points and grabbing 17 rebounds as Tug Valley improved to 16-6. Kaylea Baisden tossed in 13 points and Alyssa Newsome followed with 11.

The Lady Panthers host Tolsia tonight at Williamson Memorial Fieldhouse at approximately 8 p.m.

LOGAN – Mingo Central landed three players in double-figure scoring as the Lady Miners eliminated Man, 61-31, in a game played at Willie Akers Arena Feb. 16.

Scarlett Thomason led the way with a game-high 17 points as the Lady Miners moved to 7-15. Savannah Hinton finished with 15 and Cassidy Cline tossed in 13.

Macy Cline paced the Lady Billies (2-21) with nine points. Allie Meade chipped in eight.
