59TH DISTRICT: Valley, Pikeville advance to finals

LICK CREEK – Shelby Valley punched its tickets to the 59th District Tournament championship game with an 87-36 victory over Jenkins in a game played at East Ridge High School Feb. 19.

The Wildcats, now 27-4, will face Pikeville in the championship game Thursday night on the Reservation.

Cody Potter fired in 16 points and Cameron Worrix added 13 for the Wildcats. Peyton Blackburn came off the bench and net 10.

Jenkins’ Peyton Rose finished with a game-high 18 points for the Cavaliers, who finished the season at 3-27.

LICK CREEK – Pikeville dominated from the opening tipoff to the final buzzer as the Panthers cruised past East Ridge, 77-54, in the 59th District Tournament matchup played at East Ridge High School Feb. 19.

Rylee Sammons led four Panthers (20-8) with a game-high 16 points. Connor Roberts finished with 13 while Kyle Watkins and Christian Billiter tallied 11 each.

Cameron Hess led the Warriors, who finished the season at 12-16, with 17 points while Eli Rose fired in 13 and Elijah Sykes tossed in 10.
