The Chapmanville Regional Tigers made their plea for the number one ranking this week in the EKB Sports’ Super 7 boys’ high school basketball rankings.
The Tigers, now 14-2 following their home victory over county rival Logan, just missed out on taking the top position away from Shelby Valley.
The Wildcats, now 22-4, held on by the slightest margin to remain number one.
Chapmanville is followed by Pikeville (15-7), which holds the number three spot, edging out Logan (15-2) now fourth.
There is a bottleneck at the bottom as Paintsville (14-5) earns the number five position followed by Johnson Central (18-5) and Letcher Central (14-8) tied for sixth.
Lawrence County (17-7) and Pike Central (15-9) received votes.
