HS BASKETBALL: Central turns away East Ridge

LICK CREEK – Pike County Central was in a battle with East Ridge before pulling away for a 70-59 victory in game played on the Reservation Jan. 30.

Kelsi Brinager led four Lady Hawks, now 0-0, with 19 points while Lexi Newsome and Cassidy Mullins finished with 15 apiece. Bailey Birchfield tallied 12.

East Ridge’s Haylee Meade tossed in a game-high 22 points for the Lady Warriors (0-0). Sarah Tackett scored 16 and Leah Wells added 10.

NEWTOWN – Mingo Central pulled away in the second half to beat Herbert Hoover, 54-45, in a game played on Miner Mountain Jan. 28.

Scarlett Thomason poured in 23 points and Savannah Hinton followed with 13 as the Lady Miners moved to 5-13. Cassidy Cline finished with 12.
