HS BASKETBALL: Pikeville bounces Johnson Central

PIKEVILLE – Pikeville pulled away from Johnson Central in the second period and never looked back in rolling to  a 67-44 win in a game played at T.W. Oliver Memorial Gymnasium Jan. 15.

Rylee Sammons fired in 17 points to lead three Panthers (9-6) while Connor Roberts followed with 12 and Connor Byers added 11. Laithan Hall chipped in eight.

Cory VanHoose paced the Golden Eagles, now 12-3, with 14 points while Isaiah May finished with 11.

BUCKLEYS CREEK – Pike Central worked overtime to slip past Belfry, 56-53,  in a game played at the Hawks Nest Jan. 15.

Brady Adkins poured in 16 points and Keegan Bentley tallied 14 as the Hawks improved to 12-6. Logan Wood tallied 10 and DaSean Penn chipped in eight.

Avery Browning finished with a game-high 17 points for the Pirates, now 5-12. Ty May totaled 15 and Brett Coleman net 10.

NAUGATUCK – Chapmanville Regional  jumped on top early and steamrolled to  an 82-48 victory over Tug Valley in a game played Jan. 15.

Devin  Collins led a balance scoring attack for the Tigers, now 11-1, with a game-high 17 points. Obinna Anochili-Killen net 14 while Jordan Kish had 13 and Phillip Mullins added 10.

Caleb May knocked down 10 for the Panthers, who dropped to 5-6.
