The Shelby Valley Wildcats have been a dominate force early on, winning all five games in convincing style.
Thus, Coach Jim Hicks’ Wildcats land in the No. 1 spot in the first EKB Sports’ Super 7 boys’ basketball rankings released Monday.
Shelby Valley is followed by a pair of West Virginia powers in defending Class AA state champion Chapmanville Regional (2-0) and the Logan Wildcats (3-0), second and third, respectively.
Johnson Central (3-1) and Paintsville (4-2) are tied for fourth place while Letcher Central (5-2) and Pike Central (5-2) are sixth and seventh, respectively.
The Lawrence County Bulldogs (6-3), Pikeville (2-1), Tug Valley (2-1) and Prestonsburg (4-2) all received votes this week.
