Pikeville High School quarterback Connor Roberts and Johnson Central running back Joe Jackson have been named to the 2018 Class of the Commonwealth football team.
Roberts led the Panthers to their first Class 1A state championship appearance since 2015. The senior threw for 2,148 yards and 27 touchdowns. He also led the Panthers in rushing with 1,283 yards and 18 scores. He was one of only two small school players to finish in the top 10 statewide among passers and rushers.
Jackson led the Golden Eagles to their first state championship in school history back in 2016 and was part of four straight appearances in the Class 4A championship game for the Golden Eagles. He rushed for a Class 4A best 2,316 yards and 31 touchdowns. He completed his career with 4,744 yards and scored 76 times.
Roberts and Jackson were the only two eastern Kentucky football standouts honored.
