HS BASKETBALL: Central slips past Pikeville

BUCKLEYS CREEK – Pike Central’s Bailey Birchfield scored six of her eight points in the final quarter to help the Lady Hawks hold off Pikeville, 51-47, in a game played at the Hawks Nest Dec. 13.

The Lady Hawks, now 4-3, were led by Kelsi Brinager’s 13 points while Haley Boyd followed with 12.

Kirsten Cole-Wilkerson paced the Lady Panthers (3-3) with a game-high 15 points. Jaden Edmonds followed with 11.

ROBINSON CREEK – Shelby Valley’s Alyssa Elswick poured in 19 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the Lady Kats to a 67-56 win over Knott County Central at the Shelby Valley Sports Center Dec. 13.

Tori Hampton followed with 16 points and Laci Johnson added nine as Valley improved to 3-4.

WARFIELD – Sheldon Clark landed four players in double-figure scoring as the Lady Cardinals defeated Tug Valley, 57-39, at Warfield Middle School Dec. 13.

McKenzie Preston led the way with 15 points while Madison Thompson had a double-double, scoring 13 points and grabbing 16 rebounds. Paige Maynard followed with 12 and Lakyn Porter tossed in 11.

Man, now 0-4, was led by Karissa Anderson’s 14 points. Olivia Ramsey followed with 13.

Makayla May tossed in 19 point and Alyssa Newsome finished with 16 in the loss. Brooklyn Evans finished with a double-double, scoring 10 points and pulling down 10 boards.
