HS BASKETBALL: Golden Eagles win in overtime

GLENHAYES – Johnson Central rallied in the final period to pull even with Huntington High and the Golden Eagles went on to beat the Highlanders, 80-72, in overtime at the Rebel Classic played at Tolsia High School Dec. 13.

Jacob Rice fired in 19 points, including 10 free throws, to lead Johnson Central, now 2-1. John King finished with a double-double, scoring 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

Isaiah May added 14 and Gabe Ferrell finished with 12.

ERMINE – Letcher Central took the lead away from Belfry in the second half and went on to score a 63-51 win in a game played Dec. 13.

Tyler Boggs finished with a game-high 21 points and Greg Kincer added 14 for the Cougars, now 4-1.

Brett Coleman paced the Pirates (1-2) with 12 points and Avery Browning added 10.

STANVILLE – Betsy Layne ran out to a big lead early on and the Bobcats cruised past Piarist School, 80-31, in a game played at Junior Newsome Arena Dec. 13.

The Bobcats, now 4-3, landed four players in double figures. Jordan Frazier, Zack Bentley, Luke Manns and Frank Tackett scored 11 each.

Seth Hall finished with a game-high 28 points for the Knights, now 0-7.

LICK CREEK – East Ridge built a double-digit, halftime lead against Jenkins and rolled to a 75-54 victory in a game played at the Reservation Dec. 13.

Kane Taylor dropped in a game-high 29 points as the Warriors improved to 2-3. Hunter Damron followed with 13 while Dalton Wellman and Cameron Hess tallied 12 apiece.

Jah-Kaya Templier led the Cavaliers (0-8) with 21 points. Payton Rose finished with 18 and Chad Fleming chipped in nine.
