Phelps head football coach David Jones has resigned from his position.
Jones, a former University of Kentucky and Belfry standout, made the decision Wednesday to leave.
He told EKB Sports he couldn’t thank the community, players and coaches enough for “growing with me.”
Jones said he would forever be thankful for Phelps allowing him to jump-start his coaching career.
The Hornets finished 14-16 under Jones in three seasons, and qualified for the post-season playoffs the past two years.
He would not comment on his future plans.
