HS Basketball: Paintsville falls in double-OT

SANDY HOOK – Paintsville saw a fourth-quarter lead slip away as Elliott County rallied to knock off the Tigers, 96-93, in a double-overtime shootout Tuesday night.

Seth Williams paced the Tigers with 26 points and Colby Fugate added 24 in the season-opening loss. James Allen chipped in 12.

Tanner Dickerson had a game-high 34 points for the Lions while Korbin Spencer followed with 28 and Gage Evans added 16.

JENKINS – Betsy Layne head coach Brad Short secured his first victory as the Bobcats rolled past Jenkins, 74-40, Tuesday night.

Jordan Frazier led the way with a game-high 28 points while Zach Bentley followed with 12 and Shawn Howell chipped in 10.

Payton Rose paced the Cavaliers with 17 points.

Jenkins  has now lost 31 straight games going back to the 2016-17 season.

STANVILLE – Paintsville built a commanding halftime lead against Betsy Layne and the Lady Tigers steamrolled to a 62-42 victory Tuesday night.

Anna Keeton poured in a game-high 25 points and Elizabeth Williams tossed in 15. Clara Blair chipped in nine.

Allie Jarvis and Katie Kidd led the Lady Bobcats with 10 apiece.

GOODY – Belfry took the lead away from Prestonsburg in the opening half and the Lady Pirates went on to score a 61-46 victory Tuesday night.

Kenzie Maynard fired in a game-high 23 points, pulled down 24 rebounds and blocked eight shots. Kylea Stanley added 11 points and 11 boards for Belfry in the season opener. Linzee Phillips chipped in nine.

Reece Endicott led the Lady Blackcats with 20 points. Kaitlyn Keathley followed with 11.
