PIKEVILLE – After its most dominant win since the start of the season, one of UPIKE’s key players was recognized by the conference.
Junior Kayla Mullins was named the Mid-South Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday.
In UPIKE’s 75-48 win against Asbury, Mullins scored 17 points and nabbed eight rebounds, both of which were the highest on the team. She also earned four assists. Mullins was very efficient from the floor, making six of her 10 shots, including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc.
Mullins is the first UPIKE player to win the award since Jamie Castle won it on Nov. 13 of last year. This is Mullins’ first MSC weekly award of her career and the 12th won by a Bear across all sports this season.
