Johnson Central is just one win away from returning to the Class 4A state championship game for the fourth consecutive season.
One big reason has been the return this season of running back Joe Jackson.
Jackson rushed for 332 yards and five touchdowns, putting him over 2,000 yards for the season, in helping lead the Golden Eagles to a big home playoff win over Ashland Blazer (50-14) this past Friday night.
For his efforts, Jackson has been named EKB Sports’ Player of the Week.
Here is this week’s honor roll:
Johnson Central running back Devin Johnson rushed for 192 yards and one touchdown, while going over 1,000 yards.
Pikeville running back Zack Roberts had 153 yards on eight carries and scored on a 54-yard run on the first place from scrimmage in the Panthers’ 57-16 win over Williamsburg.
Belfry running back Isaac Dixon had 115 yards rushing and one touchdown in the Pirates’ 41-24 loss to defending champion Boyle County.
Paintsville running back Seth Williams finished with 153 yards and one touchdown in the Tigers’ 14-7 loss to Raceland.
