UPIKE: Women’s bowling wins third straight tourney

KETTERING, Ohio – The NAIA No. 1 UPIKE women’s bowling team is now the winners of three straight tournaments after taking home the title from the Roto Grip Raider Classic this weekend in Kettering, Ohio.

The ladies were dominant from start to finish in the tournament, holding the lead from the second team game to the end. Pikeville finished the team game round with a 234-pin lead over the host Wright State after being the only team to bowl over 1,000 in all five games.

Jessica Wolfe, Angel West and Lauren Piotrowski all finished in the top five individually at second, third and fifth individually to push UPIKE to that lead. Mallory Liversedge was the top individual qualifier overall on Pikeville’s JV1 team at 1,180 pins, 67 more than Wolfe.

UPIKE also had the top score across the 20 baker games on Sunday, tallying 4,112 pins to go into the eliminator round as the top seed.

Pikeville also dominated the semi-finals of the eliminator round, knocking down 70 more pins than the next closest team in its four games. The Bears then defeated Bowling Green 400-346 to claim the tournament title.

The Bears JV1 team came away with the championship of its division, while the JV2 team finished just short of making the finals and came in third.
