Belfry running back Isaac Dixon is a big reason the Pirates’ dream of a Class 3A football championship is still alive this week.
Dixon rushed 14 times for 303 yards and three touchdowns, but his biggest highlight of the night last weekend against Lexington Catholic was his electrifying 102-yard interception return which turned the game around and helped the Pirates to a wild 55-51 win.
For this efforts, Dixon has been named the EKB Sports Player of the Week.
Here is this week’s honor roll:
Belfry’s Ben Bentley had nine rushes for 161 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
Pikeville’s Connor Roberts passed for 164 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for 56 yards and one score in the Panthers’ 55-8 win over Lynn Camp.
Johnson Central’s Joe Jackson carried 10 times for 134 yards and two scores in the Golden Eagles’ 50-7 win over Scott.
Mingo Central’s Drew Hatfield hauled in 12 passes for 103 yards and one touchdown and ran for another in the Miners’ 65-36 loss to Point Pleasant.

Paintsville’s Seth Williams rushed 17 times for 145 yards and one touchdown in the Tigers’ 48-18 win over Nicholas County.
