PLAYOFFS: Golden Eagles run past Scott

PAINTSVILLE – Johnson Central took another step in the direction of reaching the Class 4A state championship game with a convincing 50-7 win over Scott in the second-round playoff matchup at Eagle Field this past Friday night.

Running back Joe Jackson carried 10 times for 134 yards and two touchdowns while Devin Johnson rushed only five times for 123 yards and a pair of scores as the Golden Eagles improved to 11-1.

Jackson’s 13-yard run early in the first period put the Eagles ahead for good while Johnson’s 37-yard run late in the fourth quarter capped the scoring.

Johnson Central, winners of 11 straight games, will host Ashland-Blazer (11-1) Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
