PIKEVILLE – Defending regional champion Pikeville dominated from the opening kickoff and the Panthers ran past Lynn Camp, 55-8, in the second round of the Class 1A playoffs at chilly Hillard Howard Field Friday night.
Pikeville, now 9-2, will host Williamsburg (9-2) this coming Friday night in the regional finals on the home turf. The Yellowjackets advanced with a 45-27 win over Hazard. Both teams have now won six straight games.
Quarterback Connor Roberts passed for four touchdowns and ran for another as Pikeville built a 35-0 halftime advantage over the Wildcats. He had TD tosses of 8, 53, 37 and 19. He ran six yards to cap the first-half scoring.
Jesse Sparks and Nate Collins added TD runs while Jackson Hensley and Kyle Watkins hauled in a pair of touchdown passes. Backup quarterback Isaac McNamee tossed a 39-yard touchdown pass to Seth Pugh.
