ROUNDUP: Cats run wild in rout of Lions

ROBINSON CREEK – Shelby Valley rushed for nearly 500 yards and the Wildcats steamrolled to a 45-7 win over Boyd County in the regular-season finale played at Teco Field this past Friday night.

Valley’s three-headed running game was outstanding as Dalton Meade carried 12 times for 140 yards and four touchdowns while Seth Johnson rushed 17 times for 258 yards and two scores as the Wildcats improved to 9-1.

Running back Clay Morgan added a rushing touchdown and finished with 98 yards on three carries.

The Wildcats will now host Middlesboro (1-9) in the opening round of the Class 2A playoffs this Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

LOGAN – Logan committed five turnovers in the opening half and opened the door as No. 11 Wayne cruised to a 46-8 win over the Wildcats at Logan Stadium this past Friday night.

Logan, now 3-6, managed a second-half touchdown when Trey Jude raced 50 yards for a touchdown. He finished with 64 yards rushing to lead the Wildcats.

The Wildcats dropped to 3-6 and will close out the season hosting Herbert Hoover (1-8) Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

LICK CREEK – Knott County Central took control early on and rolled to a 41-0 victory over East Ridge in the regular-season finale for the Warriors in a game played at the Reservation this past Friday night.

The Warriors, now 2-8, will face Somerset (8-2) in the opening round of the Class 2A playoffs this Friday night on the road.

Running back Chase Caudill had 85 yards rushing on 14 carries to lead East Ridge. Cameron Hess hauled in three passes for 22 yards.

Floyd Central……..…22

LANGLEY – Letcher Central continued its late-season turnaround as the Cougars rolled to a 43-22 win over Floyd Central  in the regular-season finale for both teams played at Jaguars Stadium this past Friday night.

Running back  Hunter Campbell rushed nine times for 146 yards and a pair of touchdowns while quarterback Nick Sergent passed for one score and ran for another as the Cougars won for the fifth time in their last six games.

Floyd Central running back Josh Whitaker ran 19 times for 150 yards and two touchdowns as the Jaguars dropped to 5-5. Brae Coleman added a rushing touchdown.

The Jaguars will play at Boyle County (10-0) in the Class 3A playoffs while Letcher Central, now 5-5, will host Lincoln County (6-4) in the Class 5A playoffs. Both games are set to kickoff at 7:30 p.m.

WEST LIBERTY  – Morgan County quarterback Garrett Adkins passed for 121 yards and two touchdowns and running back Hunter Ferguson added a rushing score as the Cougars edged Sheldon Clark, 22-20, this past Friday night.

The Cardinals finished up the season at 2-8.

PRESTONSBURG – Prestonsburg’s two-game winning streak came to an end as Perry Central defeated the Blackcats, 35-14, at Josh Francis Memorial Field this past Friday night.

Commodore running back Jayden Neace carried 32 times for 182 yards and four touchdowns as PCC moved to 8-2 overall.

The Blackcats, now 2-8, will play at Lexington Christian (7-3) in the Class 2A playoffs this Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

BUCKLEYS CREEK – Ridgeview (Va.) dominated early on and cruised to a 47-14 win over Pike County Central in the regular-season finale for the Hawks this past Friday night.

Central quarterback Tyler Hunt passed for 160 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the Hawks dropped to 3-7. Hunt rushed for 65 yards  on 11 carries.

Austin Morrow and Seth Ferguson had touchdown catches.

The Hawks journey to Lexington Catholic (7-3) in the Class 3A playoffs this Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

STANVILLE – Betsy  Layne ended a nine-game losing streak with a 48-8 win over Jenkins in the season- ending game for both schools this past Friday night at Bobcat Field.

The Cavaliers finished 0-10.
