FOLEY, Ala. – It was a successful weekend for the UPIKE Archery squad, as the men’s and women’s recurve teams swept the national titles at the USA Archery 3D Nationals over the weekend.
As a total team, UPIKE finished in fourth out of 31 teams, just three points back from second.
The men’s team of AJ Clement, Devin Gayheart and Zach Johnson and the women’s team of Brooke Hamilton, Elizabeth Jones and Tori Gayheart both won the gold medal in the Olympic Recurve team event on Sunday.
UPIKE earned four more medals on Saturday, with the mixed basic bow team of Andrew Blackburnand Makayla Erwin-McFarland won the silver medal in that event, while Clements also won a silver medal as an individual in the men’s recurve event.
Clements won a third medal with Tori Gayheart by taking bronze in the mixed recurve team event and Erwin-McFarland won an individual bronze in the women’s basic bow event.
