Paintsville edges Raceland, captures district title

RACELAND – Paintsville quarterback Jake Hyden tossed a 10-yard touchdown pass to Karsten Poe will less than five minutes left in the opening half and the Tigers held on to knock off Raceland, 6-0, Friday night to win its fourth straight district championship.

Hyden passed for 154 yards, but none bigger than the scoring pass that helped push the Tigers to a regular-season ending 8-2 mark.

Paintsville defense had to turn the Rams, now 7-2, away three times, including a key fourth-and-one stop at the six-yard line.

James Allen caught six passes for 84 yards and Hyden rushed nine times for 56 yards to lead the Tigers.
