Lawrence County built a 2-0 halftime lead and the Lady Dawgs went on to beat Prestonsburg, 4-1, in the girls’ 15th Region championship match played at Bob Amos Soccer Complex Thursday night.
Lawrence County improved to 19-1-0 overall and now advance to the Semi-State 8, hosting Russell next Monday in Louisa.
Kylie Maynard knocked home a pair of goals and had two assists while Emily Webb added one goal and assisted on two others. Zayla Granillo scored one goal.
Goalkeeper Allyson Moore was outstanding in limiting the Lady Blackcats, who finished 16-7-1, to just a single goal by Elizabeth Burchett off an assist by Jillian Kidd.
