ROUNDUP: Man tops East; Betsy Layne, MCHS beaten

NEW RICHMOND – Man’s Cameron Frye scored on a direct snap, 12-yard run with just under four minutes left to play to help the Hillbillies earn a 24-21 road win over Wyoming East this past Friday night.

The Hillbillies, now 4-3, took a 6-0 lead in the opening quarter when Daniel Browning returned the kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown.

Zach Frye added a 40-yard touchdown run.

Man will host Point Pleasant (6-0) Friday night at George A. Queen Memorial Field. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

STANVILLE – Casey County running back Preston Tucker rushed for 124 yards and three touchdowns to power the Rebels to a 52-6 win over Betsy Layne in a game played at Bobcat Stadium this past Friday night.

Quarterback Austin Campbell passed for 140 yards and two scores as Casey County improved to 7-1 overall.

The Bobcats dropped to 0-8 and will play at Prestonsburg (1-7) Friday night. Kickoff at Josh Francis Memorial Field is 7:30 p.m.

SAYERSVILLE – Estill County running back Coben Clem ran for 112 yards and three touchdowns and Justin Stamper added 113 yards on the ground as the Engineers rolled past Magoffin County, 40-22, at MCHS Field this past Friday night.

Michael Swim added a short rushing touchdown and he also hauled in a touchdown pass as Esti9ll County moved to 3-5.

The Hornets dropped to 3-6 and will close out the regular season at Breathitt County (6-3) Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
