Hawks roll past Cardinals in home win

BUCKLEYS CREEK – Pike County Central scored three touchdowns in a five-minute span of the second quarter and the Hawks went on to beat Sheldon Clark, 44-0, in a game played at the Hawks Nest this past Friday night.

Quarterback Tyler Hunt rushed for two touchdowns and passed for two others as Central moved to 3-5 on the season. Hunt finished with 96 yards passing.

Austin Morrow had TD catches of 45 and 41 yards while Seth Ferguson added a 50-yard scoring run and Issac Hunt capped the scoring with a one-yard run late in the game. Ferguson rushed four times for 71 yards.

Isaiah Hess added 70 yards on 10 carries and Issac Thacker finished with 65 yards on nine rushes.

Nate Roberts led the defensive charge with 12 tackles, including seven solo.

The Hawks will face Belfry (7-1) at CAM Stadium Friday night with the district championship on the line. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

Sheldon Clark, now 2-7, is idle this week before facing Morgan County (3-5) in the regular-season finale.
