Tigers suffer tough road loss at Wayne

WAYNE – Chapmanville Regional saw a slim second-half lead slip away as Wayne rallied to knock off the Tigers, 20-14, at Pioneer Field this past Friday night.

The Tigers, now 4-3, were trying to beat the Pioneers (5-2) for the first time since 1991.

Wayne quarterback Gunner Harmon capped off a 98-yard drive with a one-yard sneak early in the fourth period to put his team ahead for good.

Chapmanville running back Nick Collier scored on a four-yard run in the second period and Dillon Renninger returned an interception 45 yards for a touchdown to give the Tigers a 14-12, second-half lead.

Collier finished with 61 yards rushing as the Tigers were held to just 127 total yards.

The Tigers will host Logan (3-4) Friday night at Tiger Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
