SOCCER ROUNDUP: Belfry boys, girls post home wins

GOODY – Belfry’s Christian Long scored three goals and goalkeeper Caleb Spears was solid between the pipes as the Pirates blanked Shelby Valley, 10-0, in match played at Massey Energy Soccer Complex Tuesday night.

Josh Bogar, Thomas Bond, Zachary Estepp, Cayden Long, Logan Maynard, Eli Runyon and Ryan Varney scored one apiece.

The Pirates closed out the regular season 7-5-2. Shelby Valley finished 0-10-1.

Prestonsburg’s Matt Burchett had two goals and assisted on another as the Blackcats blanked Paintsville, 3-0, at the Prestonsburg Soccer Complex.

Grant Justice added one goal and Jacob Martin recorded the shutout.

Prestonsburg finished 13-1-3. The Tigers dropped to 4-8-1.

In the only other boys match Tuesday night, Letcher Central defeated Jackson City, 6-4.

Belfry’s Robbi-Ann Brewer scored four goals and assisted on a fifth as the Lady Pirates cruised past Shelby Valley, 6-1.

Kylie Gollihue added two goals while goalkeeper McKenzie Maynard was solid, allowing just a single goal

Belfry finished the regular season 12-6-1, the most wins in school history. The Lady Cats dropped to 4-9-2.

Lawrence County’s Ellie Webb had a pair of goals as the Lady Bulldogs knocked off Ashland-Blazer, 5-2, at the Dawg House.

Sarah Lycans, Jordan Stepp and Aubrey West added one goal apiece while Zayla Granillo had two assists.

Lawrence County closed the regular season 15-1-0.

Prestonsburg’s Makayla Ousley had three goals and two assists to power the Lady Blackcats to an 8-0 win over Paintsville.

Makayla Slone, Annabelle Trusty, Elizabeth Burchett, Chloe Collins, Jillian Kidd and Lauren Patton scored one each as the Lady Blackcats moved to 12-6-1.

Paintsville, which closes out its season tonight in the Apple Cup, dropped to 2-10-1.
