Cougars drop close district game to Black Bears

ERMINE – Harlan County running back Tyler Casolari scored on a 34-yard run early in the final quarter to lift the Black Bears to a 31-27 district win over Letcher Central in a game played at Cougar Field last Friday night.

The Cougars, now 2-5, had taken a 27-24 lead on a trick play to open the final period as running back Hunter Campbell tossed a 43-yard touchdown pass to quarterback Nick Sergent.

Sergent rushed for 47 yards, passed for 77 and hauled in the fourth-quarter touchdown. Campbell carried 13 times for 80 yards and two scores.

Casolari rushed 21 times for 105 yards while running back Ben Landis added 115 yards and a touchdown on 22 rushes.

Letcher Central will host North Laurel (3-4) Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
