RIO GRANDE, Ohio – UPIKE Cross Country finished its second meet of the season on Saturday at the Patty Forgey Invitational at Rio Grande University and although both teams finished last, there were some positive individual performances.
The highest finishing Bear was freshman Julia Pernsteiner on the women’s side who finished 11th out of 30 competitors, completing the 5k course in 22:50.49.
Kaitlyn Puckett finished 24th while Shelby Lemaster, Emma Blankenship, Paige McPeek and Chandra Hunley brought up the rear.
On the men’s side, Martyn Icke finished in 20th out of 44 competitors completing the 8k run in 31:36.15.
Jaxon Blaine finished shortly after to come in 24th. Benjamin Hall and Jonathan Sloas finished back to back in 31st and 32nd. Trenedy May, Christian Whitt and Dalton Stiltner finished 39th, 40th, and 43rd respectively to round out the Bears performances.

UPIKE will travel up to Louisville next weekend to compete at the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday, Sept. 29.
