PAINTSVILLE – The Paintsville Tigers forced visiting Lawrence County into four turnovers and it fueled the Tigers to a 21-6 win at Memorial Field Friday night.
The Tigers recovered three fumbles and picked off one pass.
The Tigers, now 4-2, struggled offensively against the Bulldogs, now 3-3. Paintsville managed just 144 total yards in the game.
Quarterback Jake Hyden passed for one touchdown to running back Josh McClurg, who also rushed for a first-quarter score.
Chris Allen scored in the final seconds to cap the scoring. He finished as the Tigers’ leading rusher with 76 yards on 22 carries.
Lawrence County quarterback Noah West rushed 33 times in the game for 159 yards and his team’s lone score, a nine-yard run in the second period.
Paintsville will travel to Walton-Verona (5-1) and Lawrence County plays at Sheldon Clark (2-4) next Friday night. Kickoff for both games is set for 7:30 p.m.
