Panthers come up short at Point Pleasant

POINT PLEASANT – Winning a game at Point Pleasant’s OVB Field is never as easy task for a visiting team.

Pikeville came within one play of maybe doing so.

Quarterback Connor Roberts’ fourth-and-goal pass from the three-yard line was knocked away and the Panthers came up short, 41-34, in a back-and-forth battle Friday night.

Roberts passed for 337 yards and three touchdowns and rushed 13 times for 88 yards. Receiver Christian Billiter hauled in six catches for 129 yards.

Running back Zack Roberts had a pair of rushing touchdowns while Kyle Watkins, Jackson Hensley and Seth Pugh had a TD catch each.

The Panthers amassed over 500 yards in total offense.

Pikeville, now 3-2, returns home to face Hazard (3-1) next Friday night at Hillard Howard Field
