Prestonsburg’s Grant Justice scored four goals and Matt Burchett added one and assisted on two others as the Blackcats beat West Carter, 7-1, in the 15th/16th Region All “A” tournament match played Saturday.
Goalkeeper Jacob Martin held West Carter to a single goal as Prestonsburg improved to 10-0-2.
Meanwhile, Nathan Frey and Josh Gauze scored one goal apiece as Sheldon Clark won for the first time this season, beating Hazard, 2-0, in a match played at The Rock Saturday. Goalkeeper Zach Gauze recorded the shutout.
Estill County’s Dustin Beller had two goals and Adam Chaney added one as the Engineers blanked Letcher County Central, 3-0. Goalkeeper Matt Rowland recorded the shutout.
In girls’ action, Prestonsburg’s Elizabeth Burchett knocked home five goals to power the Lady Blackcats rolled past Bath County, 7-1, in the 15th/16th Region All “A” tournament match.
Makayla Ousley and Lauren Patton added one goal each. Jillian Kidd had two assists. Goalkeeper Chelsea Samons limited Bath to a single goal.
Lawrence County’s Zayla Granillo scored four goals and assisted on one other as the Lady Bulldogs cruised to a 10-0 win over Belfry in a match played at Massey Energy Soccer Complex Saturday.
Emily Webb added a pair of goals as Lawrence County improved to 10-1-0. Kylie Maynard, Alyssa Moore and Jasmine Justice each added one.
Goalkeeper Allyson Moore recorded the mercy rule shutout. Belfry, now 7-5-0, took just three shots on goal.
Lawrence County had 33 shots on goal and Belfry goalkeeper Kenzie Maynard had 16 saves.
The Lady Bulldogs also blanked Shelby Valley, 10-0.
Maynard scored three goals while Sarah Lycans added a pair. Hayleigh Fletcher, Sarah Lycans and Sheree Hay had one each. Ellie Webb scored one goal and assisted on four others.
Johnson Central slipped past Spring Valley, 2-1.
Kelci Blair and Lauren Johnson had one goal apiece.
